This position will focus on the novel target discovery in antiviral drug research and development by using novel computer algorithms that create peptide antibody mimetics to targets in proteins and peptide array technology to identify potential drug candidates for both therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
Responsibilities:
- Synthesis of peptides using both automated peptide synthesisers and manual procedures;
- Carrying out protein predictions to select antigenic peptides for antibody generation;
- Develop a bioinformatic-experimental system for analysis of the principles of peptide interaction as well as for discovery of novel peptide or chemical compounds with therapeutic characteristics;
- Prepare, coordinate and develop grant proposals for multidisciplinary
research and development projects.
Minimal Requirement:
- Master or Ph.D. degree in Biology field with a minimum of 2-5 year
laboratory experience in industry or academic setting;
- Strong skills in molecular biology, virology, protein biochemistry,
protein/peptide engineering. Excellent understanding and experience in
HIV and Fluenza viral peptides;
- Good understanding of the applications of array based technologies,
particularly peptide arrays;
