Year 2001

• Pegasus Pharmaceuticals Group Inc. ("Pegasus") launched in market the first generation of Careseng® natural health product series which was manufactured in hard gels based on Pegasus' proprietary technology platform of Selective Metabolites Compound Drug (SMCD).  The active ingredients in the products are a dammarane-structure aglycone ginsenosides compound which was named "Dammarane Sapogenins".

• Pegasus collaborated in a research project with the British Columbia Cancer Agency to further evaluate the safety and efficacy of Dammarane Sapogenins.

• Pegasus collaborated with Dr. Jingde Chang (Ph.D) of the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan in the research of pharmacological activities of Rg3, Rh2 and aPPD.

• Pegasus successfully developed the manufacturing process and formulas of a type of aglycone ginsenosides with dammarane structure, and established the raw material production site.

• Due to the hemolytic actions of Rh2, Pegasus switched the research focus from Rh2 to other ginsenosides.  Pegasus found that the cytotoxic anticancer activity is stronger in a type of aglycone ginsenosides with dammarane-structure and developed the proprietary extraction technologies for deriving these compounds.

• Under the name of the inventor as well as the company founder, Mr. Winter Huang, Pegasus applied patents for "Novel Dammarane Sapogenins, Their use as Anti-cancer Agents, and a Process for Producing Same" in US (09/910,887, 09/982,018), Canada (2,454,799), European Union (02750733.4), Singapore (200301267-7), Japan (2003-515541), China (ZL0281755.4) and global PCT (PCT/CA02/01173).

• Under the name of the inventor as well as the company founder, Mr. Winter Huang, Pegasus applied patents for "Protopanaxadiol and Protopanaxatriol and Their Use as Anti-cancer Agents" in US (09/957,082), Canada (2,460,620), European Union (02760001.4), Singapore (200302636-6), Japan (2003-528555), China (ZL02820659.2) and global PCT (PCT/CA02/01408).
